Clearing Now - Rain & T-Storms Later?

Skies have cleared significantly across the valley over the past several hours; however, there is still a chance of showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon/evening.

Latest water vapor imagery (to the right) shows what is occurring the best. Cold front is moving across Arizona/the valley at the time of this discussion, with an area of dry air directly behind it (seen on water vapor as darker colors). This dry air is creating the clearing skies behind the front. Also, seen in the latest imagery is the strong/cold low pressure system located over southern California which is moving to the SE. As this system moves closer to the state decent dynamics will be brought into the valley resulting in a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The most favorable locations for rainfall will be higher elevations to the north and east of the valley

As mentioned in the last discussion, not expecting large rain totals, with the main story being the drop in temperature as this sytem moves through the region.
